After six weeks of dedicated tracking, four failed attempts, and countless hikes, we finally captured the perfect bear print near Campbell River during the salmon run. This 7-inch paw print, left by a 400–500 lb black bear, was found on a muddy trail we carefully prepared by raking leaves and compacting the soil every few days. When the bear finally came through, we poured plaster and preserved the moment.
